I have always enjoyed taking pictures, from the Kodak Brownie that I had in grade school to the new digital cameras of today.
During the late seventies and through the eighties, you could find me flying hot air balloons, always with a camera or two at my side. My images have been published in the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival calendars numerous times.
When I stopped flying balloons in 1988, my cameras stayed in the closet until I was near retirement in 2003.
I was introduced to digital cameras at work; we used them to transmit images of damaged equipment to the home office in another state.
I took the company digital camera on a vacation trip to Europe in 1999. That was my first use of a digital camera for anything other than close-up photos. I was hooked.
So in retirement I found time to renew my long-time passion for photography. I turned to newer equipment — Canon Digital SLR cameras, image stabilized lenses, and a Canon iPF 5100 printer.
I was able to combine photography with my love of travel and bird and animal watching, which I now have more time to indulge: International trips to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, England, France, Greece, Turkey, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Peru, Bolivia, Kenya, Tanzania, with stateside trips to Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Colorado, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Michigan, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.
The main focus of my photography is wildlife, but I do take a few landscapes.
My images are available at Appel Gallery, Viewpoint Photographic Art Center, Sacramento and The Market Place, Rancho Cordova, California.
I am a member of North America Nature Photographic Association, National Association of Photoshop Professionals, Photographic Society of America, Sacramento Fine Arts Center, Folsom Art Association, and Viewpoint Photographic Art Center.
I hope you enjoy.
